For the Love of Cars
Cool vehicles have a story to tell. Whether they have pedigree design or racing history, survived when their siblings are long gone, or have been in the family for generations, cars carry history with them that deserves to be shared!
It also can help your vehicle's value, but who's counting?
How it all began...
It's probably not a stretch to say Colorado Car Ads has been in the making for 25 years. In 1999 I bought my first Fiat, my 1975 124 Spyder "The Cheese." At the time I already had a '65 fastback Mustang project, and my '82 Toyota Pickup, but The Cheese got me into going to shows and talking about how cool the car was.
I grew up in my family's print shop, was watching Formula One before it was cool, and have leveraged my degree in Commercial Art for over 35 years. If you come over to my house, the walls are covered in framed automotive art from various eras, some of which are my own original paintings. You could say I really like cars and design.
The Cheese, so called because of the color and the multitude of rusty spots.
At the time The Cheese was definitely not the shiniest, most original, or even close to perfect car. But folks would see him and come up and tell their Fiat stories, so I thought I should tell his. This resulted in the very first layout, and many many people asking me how I did it. As I slowly restored The Cheese and converted him into an Abarth Special, I updated and enhanced his display art.
The Nutrition Facts sign was a must, I mean, after all it is named after food.
Then a funny thing happened...
Every so often, a friend would be selling something cool, and it just wasn't going right. Their pictures were not great, the description was a run on sentence of boring facts about the vehicle, and they wouldn't get much interest. So I'd help by taking better pictures, making some fun art, and reworking the wording of their listing. Then BOOM! It would sell for more than they expected, and pretty quickly too.
The Cheese now, restored and having fun
I believe that cool cars have a cool story to tell, and whether that is at a show or if it's to help find a new steward, I want to help tell those stories, so the cars and their history live on!
Classic Design never goes out of Style
The reason old car ads still look great is because of their timeless design. The same is true of your car, too. So why not celebrate and share your car's story and keep the passion alive?
The more things change, the more they stay the same
